VAMPIRE ACADEMY By Richelle Mead

9058586

Meh. I really cant say I loved nor I hated it because while it was very terrible in some aspects it was not the worst book I have ever read (which is saying something).

The whole idea of the plot was really messy and sloppy for my liking because for most of the book we don't get to know much about "the incident" that caused the two female leads to run away and even when Rose describes some of it its just bits and fragments that don't make sense so it gets to the point where I felt the entire book was a run-non sentence.

The characters where very confusing, and hard to like and connect with at times. A prime example of this would be Rose. I can easily say that since the first few pages I read about her I despised her. God almighty I might even dislike her more than Bella Swan, and that is going low. We learn early on how she thinks of herself with statements such as

"I knew perfectly well that there weren't a lot of girls at this school who looked as good in a bra as I did."

and

"I was a pretty dhampir, one who didn't mind getting into trouble and pulling crazy stunts. I became a novelty; they liked having me around for the fun of it."

My first impressions from sentences/ thoughts like these cheap girls that are full of themselves, will sleep with a boy while having no real interest him rather than his attractiveness, and the girl that boys just add to their "score" lists without a second thought. Apart from giving off this impression she make it clear from the start of what she thinks of actual dhampir women that offer services, referring to them as "bloodwhores" throughout the entire novel. Double standards like this just make me mad! all I could keep thinking while I read this was that she needed to come to terms with her inner slut.

As for the other characters they where...okay I guess (kinda boring). The only character I had real issues with was Rose.

As for the romance in this book...I wasn't feeling it. Dimitri didn't have me swooning and the lack of character background with him didn't help with the equation.
The way Rose described him, and her feelings for him didn't do much for me either...like I said earlier the only thing she seems to look for in people is their physical attractiveness.

I just really fell the concept of a vampire academy had allot of potential, but it fell a little flat with this book, but I have also heard from other people that the series does get better after the third book, but I don't know...meh.

THE MADMAN'S DAUGHTER By Megan Shepherd

12291438

THE ENDING THO.

While there is a significant lack of plot and character development "the madman's daughter" does provide for a gory (ish) thrill ride that will probably confuse you a little bit, but once you get the premise of the book it will become easier to read and get through.

The plot was one of my main concerns throughout the novel because well......there is none. I do get that this a retelling of a movie/novel (????) but the entire thing was just stretched out and was just, in a simple word, weak. The entire book was just Juliet whining, thinking about one boy, thinking about the other, running away from a poorly described monster (In my mind it was just a blur), screaming at her father, running back to her father. ugh. It just had no beginning and no end.

One thing worse that the plot was the characters. I feel like they could have so much more potential if we had actually been given a chance to get to know them, they just remained like bodies with faces with no background story. The only things we knew about them is what Juliet would say, and she didn't say much. One example of the poor character development was Edward. I feel like I would have liked him more if we could have learned more about him and his past. I don't mean his real past for obvious reasons, but I just wanted a little more insight on him, as well as the other characters.
A major thing that annoyed me as well was the poorly built love triangle. I understood why she would be kinda in love with Montgomery, but with Edward.....I just couldn't. They literally just met on the boat and he just instantly followed her around like a puppy and didn't question her when she invited him toward the island. We later on do discover why he didn't question it, but that's literally at the end so throughout the book this bothered me so much. Another thing about the love triangle that irritated me was Juliet's ability to not give a second thought to neither one of the guys. One second she would be thinking about her almost kiss with Montgomery, and one second later she would be thinking about Edwards eyes. CHOOSE WOMAN!

The only thing I will say about the ending was that it was unexpected, and it made me laugh. (I am a horrible human being).

I just have mixed feelings about this ok?

GRAVE MERCY By

9565548

I am going to admit that by looking at the cover of this book I thought it was going to be super cheesy, but after reading the summary and realizing it was about (basically) assassin nun I just had to give it a chance.

I was quite pleased with this novel. It had just a little bit of everything such as action, mystery, romance, death, and betrayal, and none of these key items seem to overlap each other throughout the book which was a good thing and created a good flowing pace in the book which was neither boring nor too fast.

the characters where also very interesting and developed quite allot throughout the book. though some of the minor characters didn't develop as much as I would have liked them to, but I think that is do to the fact that we didn't see much of them like Beast and Annith and allot of other people.
I did like Ismae as a main character we not only got to see the strong. assassin side of her, but we also got to see the insecure, venerable, more feminine side of her that I don't think we get to see with most female protagonists because the authors tend to focus allot on making the females be strong and brave that they forget to add in the femininity in all of us which make them seem lees heroic and more like robots.

As for the romance in the book it was all very sweet and touching, but it was missing something. I cant quite place my finger on it, but it was lacking something. Now don't get me wrong, It wasn't bad or insta love or anything, but it could have been better.

grave Mercy is and exiting historical novel that will keep you on your toes, smile at the bad ass females, make you laugh at the characters wits, and wish for an extra chapter.

THE IMMORTAL RULES By Julie Kagawa

10215349

I have been kinda hesitant to start a Julie Kagawa novel because countless friends never stop praising her books; especially her Iron Fey series, so I was a little scared that I was going to end up being disappointed and let down by her writing, but that (Thank to god) is not the case

The plot in this novel was great it always kept me on my toes guessing on what would happen next, and I can rarely say that for a book. Julie's writing styles was also very enjoyable also very descriptive without getting boring or dull. Another aspect of the story I was worried about was the whole "vampire" thing. I am not saying that all "vampire" related books are bad, but with so many out there even a decent one, so I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that while Allie's vampireness (I am just going to call it that) played a key role in the story it didn't take over it.

Allie was a very interesting female lead. While she was cunning, ruthless, and brave she is also kind, protective, and loving which gives us the whole enchilada. One main thing that I LOVED about Allie was her humanness her will to survive. We see examples of this every time Allie comes close to death such as when she became a vampire, something she despised, and hated her entire life, but in the end she chose to live as her nightmare than cease to exist, and that is what made her relatable In my opinion.
As for the romance in the story it was somewhat insta love, but it built up to something really nice and promising that I a exited too see develop in the rest of the series. Another aspect of their romance that I enjoyed was that Allie was the strong vampire whilst Zeke was purely human. I am not saying that Zeke is weak, but it was nice seeing the girl being the predominantly stronger one after reading hundreds of Twilight like books where the guy is always strong and the girl is defenseless.

I am very exited to see where this series goes, and I am definitely going to check out the Iron Fey!!

PURE By Julianna Baggot

9680114

Although having an interesting cover , and promising summary Pure falls short of all expectations. This book has no head or feet. It seems like somebody just rambled on and on  about a dystopian world where boys have birds on their back, and girls are either fused with children or have dolls for hands.
The first 100 pages are a struggle to get by so if you don't mind a VERY slow start then start reading!

One thing that I did like about this book was the sinister descriptions of the characters fusions. Julianna describes that the survivers of the detonations where in one way or another connected to an ordinary, or living creature/ object around them. the thing that I liked about this was the cruel reality of it. She did not spare any gory details about the appearance of the people and their gruesome fates, and that is something that you don't see often in literature.

The relationships between the characters seemed kinda forced and not real although you could tell that the author really wanted us to believe that so and so fell in love and that so and so developed a friendship, but it all seemed plastic. One of the main character relationships I had trouble accepting was that of  Patridge and Lyda. It was too much insta love for my taste. One second he is using her so that he can escape form the dome and the next he is thinking that he can never let her go. i don't get it.

Although the writing was very poetic and in a gruesome way beautiful, Pure is a book to be read when you are not afraid to be bored.

THE WISHING SPELL By Chris Colfer

11607446

First picking up this book I reminded myself to keep my expectations low because of the two simple facts that this is Chris' first novel, and that I had only pictured hims as an actor and didn't think he would make it as a very successful author, but I was pleasantly surprised by the end of this first installment.
One of the things that surprised me the most is Chris' simplistic yet descriptive styles of writing which was very enjoyable and easy to follow, but never dull.

Alex and Conner where enjoyable and entertaining characters.
Even though their personalities where polar opposites it was clear that they both shared a tight bond, and that they would not  leave each other behind which made for some character development.
Another character duo that I very much shipped throughout the entire novel were Goldilocks and Jack.
The twist on both of their stories, including Red Riding hood's, where very entertaining and ADORABLE I just simply wanted them to be together since I first read about them.

Another thing that I would like to appreciate about Chris' styles of writing is that he was able to sneak in some important lessons here and there through the course of the book which made it really relatable in some ways, and will hopefully teach all of the children who read this a thing or two.

Even though some minor things where predictable and ordinary there where quite a number of enjoyable twists and turns that kept the story going making up for the others.

THE THIN EXECUTIONER By Darren Shan

7128767

I enjoyed reading this book over the holiday break because it was easy to go through, and made me think about the context of the book and the lovely message it contained even after I had finished turning the pages.

The plot and the characters overlap each other so seamlessly that it just seems like one loooong chapter. Do not get me wrong, sometimes this can be a bad thing (most of the time actually) but I felt that with this book it just really clicked and made you appreciate the story more. The setting descriptions, and the way all of the religions/people where described and portrayed was very nicely done, and also transported me into the book, and made me feel I was part of the story.

The characters in this story where AMAZING I loved how we got to see them develop from the beginning to the end, and I might even have to stay that Jebel's transformation may be the most I have seen a character change for the better in a single book in a long time.

The ending of this book was pretty awesome too, and I really loved how Jebel finally realized what love truly was and who actually cared for him.
This book also has a lot of underlying messages about faith, religion, and about self acceptance, and courage that where very interesting and that will stay with you, and maybe s=change your outlook on a few things.

ALLEGIANT By Veronica Roth

17383918

The end to the Divergent trilogy is here and I don't know how to deal.

I am pretty sure I am still in denial about everything that happened in this book, an I will probably  spend the rest of my life waiting for the fourth installment.
The book pretty much starts where we left of in Insurgent and picks everything up from there.  I believe that the start was good, intriguing, and kept us wondering what was happening and what was true and what was a lie. I sadly report that along the middle of the book I felt the writing and the plot got a little muddy with all of the characters and all of the new information that Veronica started to reveal to us through the book. All in all the book was a little choppy at parts, but that didn't take away from the emotion and the pain that we feel in the book.

The characters in this book also started out very strong, taking into consideration that almost everyone in Insurgent was wither dead  or close to being dead at the end of the book. There were so many cute and fluffy Four/Tris moments that my heart was melting, but BECAUSE SOMEONE SPOILED IT FOR ME I think I didn't enjoy them as much as I would have not knowing the outcome. One thing I didn't like about the relationship was that, even though I realize that Veronica wanted to portray a real life scenario and real life romance, Tris and Four fought WAAAY too much even for a normal couple. Every time Four would try to think for himself, and make a decision on his own Tris would become all controlling and crazy and tell him that what he thought was wrong. I also found Tris to be very unnerving and annoying. She would take every opportunity to be brave and selfless and act like she was above everyone else. I am not saying that being selfless and brave is a bad thin, but the repetitiveness of Tris being the ONLY ONE to save everyone and the ONLY ONE to have emotional trauma, and be the "leader" of the group of friends get tiring and irritating.

The ending was heartbreaking though, but I feel like the way she died (Not specifying who because SPOILERS) was too meh.

INFERNO By Dan Brown

17212231

I have high expectations for Dan Brown being that I have read all of his previous novels, and loved every single one of them, and Inferno broke those expectations and created a brand new category of its own.

Dan seems to have a basic formula in his books that basically consists of main character, something life threatening happens, insert good character, super villain, world organization gets involved, race against life, every one you thought to be good is bad and vice versa, and so far it has worked really well for him, and this is no exception.

I loved how you just got the feeling that you where right there next to Langdon the entire time and could feel all of the mixed emotions dripping off of him through the entire book. Another thing I really enjoyed was the the way you could just fly through the book. I am not saying the plot was uninteresting or easy to follow, but its not the most complicated of Dan's books, and once you read about 3 of his books you start understanding faster, and being able to read it faster.

the characters where phenomenal in this book. With Langdon, like I already stated, I could easily read all of his emotions as if they where my own. I felt confused when he did, betrayed all of the times he got betrayed, happy, sad, etc. I really loved this because it made me connect with his character and made me enjoy the book a little bit more. With Sienna the story is different. She was hard to read and understand, for obvious reasons, but I still felt like I could connect to her to a certain point on an emotional level because of all she had been through and for being underestimated and misunderstood. All of the other supporting characters including Bernard did an amazing job at creating the suspense and vagueness of the book and to transmit all of the feelings that Dan wanted us to feel at certain times.

Like any other Dan Brown novel Inferno is a must read and apart from leaving you guessing on every page it will also teach you a thing or too.

THE COLLECTOR By Victoria Scott

13449677

I feel so proud of finishing and liking this book because I met the author and she signed it for me! eeeekk!

coming into the novel I had the feeling that it was going to be a common, cheesy romance novel, but it is so much more. It is a roller coaster made up of adventure, supernatural beings, romance, mystery that will have you turning pages until you are done.

Dante. His name is enough to send the most pure girl into sin (see what I did there?) but his confidence and overall attitude will entertain everyone and will always en up making you laugh. It was very entertaining to see everything through his point of view and get to experience everything first hand, and really feel that we where back stage and were in on some sort of secret that the rest of the characters don't know. Its the first time I have ever felt that way with a book.
One very big transformation was Charlie. At first I saw her as everyone else did. Pathetic, awkward, thin, little teen who probably spent her weekends watching doctor who (so basically me). At first I thought her annoying, but a few chapters in I realized that there was much more to her that met the eye, and the way she developed until the end of the book, faults and all, was pretty fantastic and exiting to read about.
Their romance was realistic I think. For Charlie it was love at first sight (obviously), but for Dante it took some time for him to see how Charlie was beautiful from the start, and even get to miss the original her once she started changing.

With plot twist being thrown at you from every direction you are always trying to figure out who is who and who does what, but in the end the result will leave everyone shocked.

SLATED By Teri Terry

12743472

One look at the cover and we can clearly see  we have an interesting book on our hands, and once your curiosity gets the best of you you have already read 10 chapters. There is no turning back now.

The character had both their faults and virtues, so I guess that these same faults and virtues are what made them so relatable and human. For example, the various characters of mom, dad, and Amy kept getting on my good side and my bad side which made it hard for me to decide in the end if I enjoyed reading about them or not, but that's one of the real  life qualities that this book has. People are not always going to be on your good side or bad side, they change.
I really enjoyed seeing Kyla's point of view thought the whole story because we get to experience all of the deep emotions that go on in her head even though if there where some minor inconsistencies in the story sometimes. What I mean by "inconsistencies" is that she is supposed to  be experiencing everything for the first time again because she was slated right? yet she instantly recognizes, and does not flinch at the sound of a gunshot. Again. these where minor details, but it just made me wonder sometimes...

As for the plot SLATED is a book that is sure to take you on a suspense packed roller coaster that seems to accelerate its speed every 5 seconds. The story always had me guessing, and maybe even skipping ahead a few time to see what would happen...(sorry not sorry) but its not like its all action all the time. no. its just the right amount of suspense to keep you on your toes while not overdoing it too much.
Even though I would have killed for a little more background on how "slating" came to be it was still a very good first installment, and I am very intrigued about what happens next.

SAPPHIRE BLUE By Kerstin Gier

If you haven't read the first installment in this trilogy I don't know what you have been doing in your life.

We start off this second installment literally right where we left off in the first one ( I love it when books do that! ), and the story takes off from there.

The plot was amazingly well thought through with a steady pace and punchlines where it needed them. Even though this book does end in a shocking cliffhanger that leaves you wondering what the heck is going on, it was very enjoyable and easy to read

A very big thing in this book was character development. Gwen is as witty and sarcastic as ever, but we also see  a new determined and decisive side of her that we didn't know existed as much as her insecure side, that still appears from time to time, but is being less frequent. I also want to take a moment to applaud Gwen for being one of the strongest female character that I have read about in a long time. I don't mean that she is strong in a physical way (quite the contrary) but its the way she handles herself and her surroundings that make her strong.
If I had been in Gwen's place taking all of the criticism that she gets thrown ate her daily, instead of doing whats expected I would have probably broken some noses, bur Gwen does exactly the opposite and swallows down her pride and keeps quiet. Its quite entertaining to see what goes inside her mind when she is forced to keep quiet.
Another character that develops significantly is Lesley. Lesley goes from being just a minor character in Ruby Red to creating an story arc of her own and makes us readers want to know a little more about her and her personal life. I really enjoyed reading about Lesley and Gwen's friendship and every time that Lesley would insult Gideon it would warm my heart.
Do not even get me started about Gideon. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE GUY!!
One second he declares his love for Gwen and looks sincere and acts like a gentleman, and the next he denies hi love and acts like a douche and hangs out with Charlotte, but then also admits he is in love with Gwen and I am confused by this boy.

An amazing book that will answer some question, but create new ones as well.

THE HOUSE OF HADES By Rick Riordan

12127810

THE FEELS. THE SPOILERS. THE PAIIINNN.

I read it! Finally! After a year of waiting in agony I have read and LOVED The House of Hades!
I just don't want to wait another whole year for the last book to come out. (hides in the corner weeping)

The plot for this book was greatly paced as to not be to rushed nor too boring, and with just enough twists and turns to keep me entertained, but not hyperventilating (most of the time). We meet again with out heroes aboard Argo II heading towards the doors of death to meet Annabeth and Percy, so they could bring them back from Tartarus, but this task proves to everything, but simple because apart from all of the troubles they face throughout the entire book there is also the impending war between camp half-blood and camp Jupiter.
Like I said before, the pace in the book was just right and it all somehow fell into place as the story continued.

ONTO THE CHARACTERS!

There is so much character development in this book that I don't even know where to start. I shall start with the most enormous character development ever. Nico. SWEET LORD JEESUS. I cannot begin to express how happy I am for him. After not knowing much about the quiet troubled little boy throughout the whole series in The House of Hades we finally get some insight into Nico's persona and I am ecstatic. Even though I will admit that I was a little bit crushed about the spoiler (that you most probably already heard of) because I always have had a bit of a crush on the ghost king, but I am also relieved that he is opening up to people and starting to accept himself. Can we take a moment to appreciate the Jason/Nico friendship that happened here?! (...I ship it....). As for other important character development we have Frank. Frank went from being a insecure, little Asian boy to being a BAD ASS, tall Asian boy in approximately 0.5 seconds. How in the name of Ares and Mars this happened I do not know, but I am enjoying it and hope to see where this leads. If any of you guys where looking for some more Jason/Piper action, I hate to disappoint, but everything is as dull as ever (shakes head). As for new and promising romances we have a certain Island girl and a curly haired mechanic, but I will not dare say more if any of you have not heard, or have not read the book yet, but what I will say is that I SHIP IT (its adorable). As for the amount of Percabeth in this book we get quite allot of development. Maybe not as much steamy, or cute moment like we had hoped for, but that the development that happens between them is deeper in this book because they realize how lost they would be without each other, and how they need one another to survive.

I shall now go into book hangover, and rock  back and forth in the corner until the final book in the Percy Jackson legacy is introduced to us. (and after I don't know what I will do with my life...I barely survived Harry Potter!)

SCARLET By Marissa Meyer

13206760

O.M.G.

How does Marissa come up with this stuff?

I personally liked the addition of the new characters to the story such as Wolf, Scarlet, and Thorn, because they helped revive the story and give it more depth. Out of all the characters my least favorite was Scarlet. To be quite frank I kinda hate her. The was she blames ALL of her problems on everyone else instead of taking responsibility for it. Another thing that really ticked me off about her where her double standards. How she was so quick to judge her father, but at the same time refused to judge Cinder until she knew what was going on, but when she MET Cinder she was quick to judge her as well. Scarlet just gets on my nerves.
One character who oddly enough I ended up liking was Wolf. Even though we don't know much about him I fell for his kind but somewhat dominant manner, but I always had a feeling that we did knot exactly what was going on with him, which was true, but now I am more intrigued than ever to know about his past.
The rest of the characters where also enjoyable. Cinder continued on being amazing and strong, and Kai was just a blind idiot the whole time, and he needs to realize that what he feels for Cinder is real and was not faked.

As for the plot of the story, we go in deeper and deeper into the control of the Lunars over earth and of all of their secrets and influences. We even get a POV from the Lunar Queen herself!
The story is always fast paced and packed with adventure, mysteries, lies, and deception even more than the first book was!

With not a dull moment to spare, Scarlet is a book to grab off your shelf now.

NEVERMORE By Kelly Creagh

7129598

I am trying to read more different books, so when my friend recommended this to me I jumped at it and I was actually quite liked it.

One thing that really sets this book apart from all of the other Y/A romance/paranormal books is the Edgar Allan Poe factor. With all of the world and atmosphere of the book based of of Poe's writings, the author sets the scene for a mysterious drama that even though it is sometimes a bit slow, or hard to follow, it manages to keep you intrigued enough to want to know what happens next.

The writing style was really entertaining too. Kelly had a way of transmitting the emotions of Isobel really well by taking us into her mind and making us feel as if we are by her side during the whole story.

I have really nothing else to say about this book other that I really enjoyed it, and recommend it to everyone.

THE 5TH WAVE By Rick Yancey

17415470

You have probably watched or read thousands of reviews on the Internet about how much people liked this book. This is another one of those.

The book starts off by explaining what the waves are and giving us some background information about Cassie, one of our main characters, and a very fierce heroine. Even though at times the background can get kinda tiring and long its necessary so we can understand more about Cassie and her surroundings.

As for the characters I really enjoyed reading about them and seeing their point of view's (ITS IN DIFFERENT POV'S JUST FYI SO YOU DON'T GET CONFUSED) My top two characters that I enjoyed reading about where Evan and Zombie (NO SPOILERS) this is because I fell that they are really well built characters and fun to read about. Plus we get to see the world of Evan and Cassie and also experience Zombie's life at camp. However this does NOT mean I am fond of Zombie (or however you want to call him) because he really angered me at the end of the book.

With high action, plot twist where you least expect it and a world full of mysteries waiting to be unraveled The fifth wave is a promising book that could even be compared to the Hunger Games, and I never say this without meaning it.

THE FALL OF FIVE By Pittacus Lore

15861491

SO. MANY. FEELINGS.

I just have to start this review by saying that I was always suspicious of five...I don't know....it was just something about the way he acted that threw me off.
UGH. If anybody could have seen that spoiler coming.....

In this book continue to have the dual points of view which really help the story go forward. Since 99% of the time all the characters are in different places (sounds like a really bad war strategy, but what are you going to do right?).

I really enjoyed the pace that the book had. It neither was too fast or slow, and I am thankful because at some points in the book you have A LOT of things to process and understand, so I am surprised it did not get too confusing.
The dual POV's in the book also really helped since (like I said) the characters are separated most of the time. I am still wondering where six's POV when because I missed her in the book.
As for the characters, well they did develop, but I think we could have seen a little bit more of that if they had been together more...( A LOT of things could have been prevented that way...)

Ugh. I will say this to the day I die. I. HATE. CLIFFHANGERS.
This one better be worth it.

INSIGNIA By S. J. Kincaid

11115434

It had been some time since I had read a book like Insignia...I say this in a good way because I really did end up enjoying it.
One of the things that I really ended up enjoying was that we had a male protagonist, Tom. I am not saying that you never see a male protagonist in Y/A anymore (I can actually can name quite a few), but it has become increasingly more difficult to find a good one. I feel tom was brilliant and entertaining in his own type of way. He was not perfect, and far from being a genius, but he demonstrated that sometimes those things don't really matter.

As for the other characters, they were also very well developed. I was particularly interested in Blackburn. He was the Severus Snape  for this book. Always seeming like the bad guy, putting everyone down, and scheming up diabolical plans against the "good"  side, but once you get to know the reasoning for his behavior you start to not like him, but value him more as an asset to the book.

The one thing that I would have as a complaint for this book is that there are too many conflicts. Now, you might not understand why this is a bad thing because after all this would only add to all of the action included in this book right? well, I complain because its hard to follow the plot of the story if you cant really identify the REAL climax of the story. Will all of the rivalries that Tom face throughout the book they either just suddenly disappear, or a new one appears, or they don't seem major enough to be considered a climax.

I would DEFINITELY read this if you are a fan of Enders Game.

CREWEL By Gennifer Albin

11556960

This book is so amazing you will probably wont understand it. probably.
I say this because of the world that lies behind crewel. The way Gennifer creates this world, weaves it (hehe I made a funny) into a reality that (somewhat) easy for us to understand is both amazing and impressive because of the complexity of it.

I also loved the way that she developed the characters. Whilst never giving too much away she made me feel as if I had been standing next to them throughout the whole book, but it also added a sense of mysteriousness, and suspense because everybody had something to hide.
Even though this is a insta-love kinda book I will vouch for it and (this may be the only time I say this) this is insta-love done right. It doesn't feel too pushy or overwhelming considering the fact that the author didn't reveal much about the characters in her writing (for the mysterious vibe) not even for the narrator herself.

Can I get a PLOT TWIST! no? because it seems that this book was having a sale on them because on every. single. chapter. there is something unexpected!!
It kept the story going really nicely, and Gennifer held back on some major twist so she could drop them at the correct time and it made for a perfect "WOW I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!" kinda moment.

This will leave you craving for more.

THE PROGRAM By Suzanne Young

11366397

OMG. I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK.

With a unique and utterly realistic concept the program will send chills down your spine.
The thought of suicide becoming such a huge problem to the point where the government would have to step in to interfere really scared me.

The characters were a bit difficult to get used to at first, but after you really get to read about them more and understand their actions you end up falling for them, screaming when something bad happens to them, crying when they die, and throwing the book across the room in frustrations when something bad happens. (which happened quite a few times).

The plot of the book flowed with ease. Even though we couldn't even fathom what would happen from page to page it all had a sense of order that gave me some sort of  reassurance whilst reading the book.
I will be truthful with you and confess that part1 one of the book was a tad bit boring and slow, but once you get into the midst of things you will end up staying up all night to see what happens next.

The program will leave you wanting more.

EVE AND ADAM By Michael G. and Katherine A.

13493463

I really enjoyed this book. I thought that it was a very unique twist to the whole Adam-created-eve thing, but it also had a nice twist/shocking (not really) ending to it that just made me giggle when I put the book down after finishing it.

The characters where quite enjoyable. Nothing extraordinary, but ya know...normal. (Well apart from the whole eve being a mod thing )
I liked how all of the relationships between the characters where presented and developed. I still don't understand how Solo could fall in love that quickly ( in my opinion), but the again, we didn't get to see his point of view for those parts. We just got to see it after he realized it and accepted it.
My favorite character has to be Eve's best friend Aislin. I loved how bright and outgoing her personality was, and how she wasn't afraid to say what was on her mind. I also think that she did a great job in portraying the fact that sometimes the tough girls can be broken inside (I may be looking too much into this but I don't care).
One of the more peculiar characters was Adam even though I will admit that I did imagine him as MY perfect boy (physically) I thought he was kinda creepy, and his personality fell short. Creepy because of the whole "I just woke up, AND I LOVE YOU BECAUSE YOU CREATED ME" thing just didn't work for me; and the personality thing was because the "perfect boy" isn't just made out of looks.

Anyway, this is an enjoyable read if your not looking for something serious.

perfect sometimes isn't perfect.

ENCLAVE By Ann Aguirre

7137327

hehe one of the reasons that I picked this book up was because the author and I share the same last name....hehe.

The story  was really well executed and believable. The chaos ridden world that Anne created actually scared me sometimes. It made me feel defenseless, weak, and powerless. It was just the way that she described the underground and the topside with all that destruction, and death that really got to me. Also the lack of books really scared me too (for obvious reasons).
The characters were really well planted too. You could really believe and understand all that Deuce did and said. Even though she was so ignorant and clueless sometimes ( About the Fade thing and that just made me want to slap her ) but you still understand it because she grew up in a VERY different world. Even though the awkward ( I don't even know what it is) love...rectangle?.... (lets just call it that for now)  was just confusing and plain dumb sometimes I still enjoyed reading about the characters.

I am eager to know what happens in the sequel and hoe the heck the people survived whatever destroyed the world, so I hope to read book 2 soon!!

THE FAULT IN OUR STARS By John Green

11870085

I blame John Green for my ocean of tears. (that is all)

From the first sentences of this book I knew I would fall in love with it ( just as all the people on Tumblr predicted it )

Whilst this style of writing and of narrating has nothing unique in it I still ended up being engaged in this book and so immensely into it that school was no longer of importance.
Maybe what got me so engrossed in it was the fact of the rawness of it. It wasn't one of those books where you could predict the ending to, it wasn't one of those books where all of the characters lived happily ever after, It was one of those books that tells us that life is fair. John made us start to care for the characters. To sympathise with them. To fall for them. To feel their, pain, loss, and grief and make us wish we could take all of it away even though we knew we couldn't, but he made us want to try.

The characters were really enjoyable and easy to understand. (even though sometimes the vocabulary they used exceeded their years) They weren't cliche cancer patient like in other books where they either just drown in self pity, or don't let it faze them, they indulge in a little bit of these two characteristics throughout the book but it doesn't make up their whole character.
The romance between Hazel Grace and Augustus was just perfect. Maybe it wasn't all suffocating (like we see in most books), but it was real. They were not groping each other every 20 seconds, but they laughed together, read together, and dreamed together wich I found just lovely and beautiful.

The world is not a wish granting factory.

EAGLE STRIKE By Anthony Horowitz

Like with every Alex Rider novel Anthony doesn't deprive us of the action, mystery, and evil geniuses that he has been know to create in his previous novels.
In this particular novel we get to see how Alex struggles with life because of his inquiries towards an international pop star because neither MI6 nor his best friend will believe him! (tough life)

This book, like the rest in the series, are packed with the perfect amount of action, suspense, and mystery that every book needs without making it too overwhelming.
The pace in the book is neither too slow nor too fast it is just right ( Goldilocks would have liked this book ). I also liked how Anthony made us believe that Alex had no way out or that he had been defeated because the cliche good-boy-always-wins-without-struggle thing is getting very old. In fact it is not getting old it just died.

The characters also really developed from where we last saw them in POINT BLANK, even though we didn't see much of Sabrina at the time. We saw an interesting relationship build between Alex and Yassen up until the end of the book where...you know...um...STUFF HAPPENS. (this is a no spoilers post)
One of the characters that I didn't ( and don't ) like too much is Sabrina. From the last book when they "introduced" her to this book I just found her very annoying and flat. I did notice how Anthony tried oh-so-desperately to incorporate her more and give her a little bit more meaning, but I just wasn't feeling it.

A great bedside read that you will most likely fly through in day.

THE FALSE PRINCE By Jennifer A. Nielsen

12432220

enchanted by the synopsis and the intriguing cover I couldn't wait to read The false prince once I had picked it up from the shelf, and I am happy to report it didn't disappoint.

I really liked how Nielsen wrote the whole book. It seemed that she knew exactly how to twist the plot just enough to only have us knowing what she wanted so when the plot twist came around nobody would be expecting it. I am usually good at predicting books, but the twist in this one actually caught me by surprise so, Jennifer, I bow to you.
The characters in the book were also very well built so that we actually had to concentrate on what they were saying and doing to understand them more. It wasn't like one of those books where the characters are just flat and boring.
With witty comments from beginning to end I expect book to to live up to it predecessor. (We shall see)

If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh, feel intrigued, shout, and be surprised then I suggest you grab The false prince now.

THE DEMI MONDE By Rod Rees

The Demi-Monde: Winter (The Demi-Monde Saga, #1)

A wonderfully written high action dystopia about war, video games, blood, and the government.

Over all the whole book is just so imaginative and outstanding that its kinda hard to transfer into coherent sentences. Starting with how creative this book is. I mean, the author MUST have been creative enough to come up with all the unique religions represented throughout the whole book, write and create the government for the different regions of the Demi Mode, and create and develop characters whilst not ignoring the other things that I have just listed. So in conclusion, Rod Rees, my hat goes of to you (if I had a hat).

The characters where also very well developed and the bonds or the rivalries between them where very well thought and pleasant and exiting to read about. Trixie was a very interesting character to read about because of all that she has to go through. Trixie was also a very good example about how war can harden even the nicest of people.

Can't wait to go pick up the next installment!

PRODIGY By Marie Lu

Prodigy (Legend, #2)

I am having post-reading depression right now. The ending was just-
no.

in this sequel to LEGEND we get A LOT more than we bargained for. We finally discover the secrets behind how the republic came to be, we travel into the colonies, and take a look into the patriots.
The two POV's (point of view) in this book are completely in sinc and completely necessary. The voices of June and Day are so seamlessly intertwined that you understand their very different personalities without getting confused on with POV you are reading.

We also see a lot of character development no just in the different relationships in the series, but in the individuals too. I was VERY interested in the development in Day and Junes relationship because they have to figure out their feelings for each other whilst fighting their inner demons, deciding who to trust, face betrayal, and deal with having another person wanting to be with them.

I am not even going to discuss the ending because I still cant deal with it.
sorry not sorry.

SPUD By John van de Ruit

Spud (Spud, #1)

Written from in the perspective of the diary of a fourteen year old boy (Spud Milton) we get to see his struggles of becoming a "man", first (and second) loves, friendship, and the subject of death all whilst reading The Lord of the Rings.

Apart from learning of the life of Spud we also get to learn about the times in south Africa in the 1990's (where the book is set) witch was pretty interesting.
I admit that in the middle it gets kinda boring to read, but it picks up its pace shortly after you start feeling bored.

This book is also hilarious ( I had to set it aside sometimes because of how much I was laughing).  I cant tell you how happy I am to know that this book has a sequel, AND a movie!!

If you are a teenage guy you should definitely go check this out!

THE UNUSUAL SUSPECTS By Michael Buckley

The Unusual Suspects (The Sisters Grimm, #2)

This book is sooo punk rock! (read and you will understand)

Witty, funny and easy to read the second installment in the Sisters Grimm series is adorable. With everything from frog girls to murderous bunnies this book really delivers.

The characters seemed to develop allot in this book, and we also got to see different sides of the witch made me really happy. One of the characters that really drew me in was Sabrina. With her hatred to the fairy-tale folk increasing after failed attempts to rescue her parents Sabrina just feels lost and sacred (even if she wont admit it) and takes out her anger on everyone around her. I think people can really relate to this behavior of releasing stress in the not so peaceful ways. Plus the hatred for something you really don't understand. I just want to see if Sabrina can grow out of this phase and develop into a More mature and wise character.
Plus I just want to keep reading about the whole Puck/Sabrina thing that is going one.

Don't judge me.

GET IT HERE:THE UNUSUAL SUSPECTS

NERVE By Jeanne Ryan

Nerve

meh. That's all I really have to say. Whilst promising high tension and jaw dropping action NERVE delivers, in my opinion, none of that.

The reason I picked this book up was because the concept was interesting and thrilling, not very unique, but I was OK with giving it a chance. Witch it blew.

The cast for this novel includes very ordinary 17 year olds and a VERY ordinary main girl who goes by Vee (her real name just made me roll on the floor and laugh).
The romance in this book was also very dumb. (I just cant find another way to describe it) Only after a few hours of meeting each other Ian and Vee become a "couple" or something. I don't even know. Anyone who becomes that close to a person in just a few hours needs to check themselves. People don't work that way. It didn't even work that way in Twilight, and that is saying ALLOT.

Can I just comment on how much the cover confuses me? I don't get what it has to do with the book.

CINDER By Marissa Meyer

Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)

OMG.
I NEED book 2 right now.
like, now.

Being a retelling of Cinderella, at first I was a little skeptical if I would like this book at all. Cinder being a cyborg and all.

One of the things that I LOVED about this book was the setting. Instead of the typical American scenery this book is set in Asia.
I also quite liked the introduction of aliens and the whole "Lunar" concept. Even though it may seem kind of difficult to understand who the Lunars are, where they come from, why they act like they do, and the whole magic concept, it all becomes clearer if you keep reading on.

The author captured quite well the whole essence of the evil stepsisters (or stepsister in this case) and the even EVILER (is that a word?) stepmother, whom witch I would have been happy to slap.
Cinder (aka Cinderella) was very humble, kind, and had all of the characteristics of being a true princess (hint hint wink wink if ya know what I mean).

May I also applaud this book for not being too focused on the romance?
I think that may be what I liked  most about this re-telling.

Even though some part of the plot where very predictable it was easily overlooked by the action, mystery, and ending.
Cinder is a book that will make you crave for more.

ONCE IN A FULL MOON By Ellen Scheiber

Once in a Full Moon (Full Moon, #1)

This book may not be the best YA novel I have ever read, or best werewolf YA that I have read for that matter, but in fact it wasn't that bad if you read it not expecting too much.

Some of the reasons that this is not the best book ever is because most of the lines made me cringe.
lines like, "I was a loved struck girl and yet I couldn't control my ridiculous feelings." Witch main character EVER would describe themselves as a love sick person? would YOU eve ever do that?

cringe.

The plot was pretty normal and predictable too. I mean, we have the typical, Girl who isn't that popular gets with the main jock. They have problems in their relationship because he wasn't all he was cut out to be. Suddenly a mysterious loner/bad boy enters the school, and makes the girl feel different. You can probably fill in the lines to what happens next.

I had problems with almost all of the characters. Nash was too inconsiderate, full of himself, and inconsiderate. Celeste's best friends where mean girls, unthoughtful, and I just couldn't rap my head around why Celeste worshiped them. And Celeste was just and annoying lovesick puppy (witch got VERY ANNOYING).

This is a book to read when you are looking for something to cruise right through, and not expect wonders out of it.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

because why not?

People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them.

THE ORACLES OF DELPHI KEEP By Victoria Laurie

Oracles of Delphi Keep (Oracles of Delphi Keep #1)

I had heard great things bout this book from some of my friends, so I decided to pick it up. Up until the middle of the book I hadn't seen that much action witch caused me to consider to give it up, but I decided to finish it just to see how everything would turn out, and I am glad I did!

The characters in this book where really well thought out, and made me laugh most of the time (witch was one of the reasons why I kept reading).
All of the main kid characters in this book seemed allot more mature than the ages that the author gave them and that really impressed me as well.
I also really enjoyed all of the hints and traces of mythology because it gave me insight, and it made the book allot more fun to read.

Even though it takes a while for the novel to take off, and for the action to begin, you will not be disappointed when it does, even if you are a child, teen, or adult.

i expect great things from the sequel.

MY FAMILY FOR THE WAR By Annie C. Voorhoeve

A heartbreaking historical novel about the struggles of a little Jewish girl through out World War II.

I have always been interested in WW2 and I like to read some books about it from time to time to try to imagine what it must have been like.
The author treats the subject with intense sympathy. We can feel the character s emotions so well and accurately as if we were there with them or as if we were reading their thoughts.
Choosing a favorite character in this novel was extremely hard. On one side I really enjoyed Ziska (our main character) because we can see her grow up, mature, make mistakes, and make choices that 10 year old kids shouldn't have to make. Ziska was also very determined to keep ties to both of her families and worked hard to please them both. On the other side you have Walter. Even though we don't know quite allot about Walter throughout the book, I quite liked him. Walter had clear views about his life and the war. He too, like Ziska, wanted to help his father have a better life and worked hard with him in the factories ( or any job he had)  so that they could both survive. Plus I don't have to decide between either of them because of how it ended ;)

Funny, witty, and heartbreaking "My family for the war" is a read that will leave you crying/thinking after you have turned the last page.

THE FAIRY TALE DETECTIVES By Michael Buckley

A fun, adventurous twist to fairy tales and happily ever after.

Jumping right into the action we encounter two "orphaned" sisters, a somewhat crazy long lost grandma, a big bad wolf, and a town where nothing is what it seems.
Adorable and witty from the first page to the last, this first instalment int the Grimm sisters series is shure to be a page turner!

The characters where all crazy, fun, and lovable. Grandma Grimm was exotic, smart, sweet (what a grandma should be), and a little bit mad in the head (witch never hurt anybody). Daphne and Sabrina where both adventurous, loyal, and funny. Though I didn't like Sabrina in the first part of the book because she was being really closed minded about their grandma and was not giving her a chance to explain herself.
As for the rest o the characters in the town I loved not knowing what fairy tale character they where! it made it all the more interesting! even though Michael does reveal their identities in some part of the book, it still kept me guessing!
(P.S. I loved how he included Arthur )

cant wait to get my hands on the sequel!

THE 13th SIGN By Kristin O'Donnell Tubb

The 13th Sign

Whilst being exited about a  zodiac sign theme book and everything it had to offer I was kinda unimpressed with the novel.

The characters where unimpressive and basically textbook boring. The main girl Jalen, was very irritating because she just would not step up to the challenge in front of her, and I found her to be very annoying in the first part of the book from when she was in the store to when she opened the book releasing the 13th sign.
As for the other characters, they where quite predictable. The best friend who is always there for you no matter what, and the best friend's brother who you secretly have a crush on (lets be serious here they totally liked each other).

As for informing me about the 12 signs of the zodiac, Tubb told me what any other zodiac book would have said. I did (kinda) enjoy the reincarnation of Virgo; she was funny.

Even though I do understand that this book is meant for younger children I kinda expected maybe a little more from it.
