CRESS By Marissa Meyer

13206828

THE FEELS ARE REAL.

The amount of different ships that I have formed in just this book is not even real. I cant deal with this. And I have to wait until 2015 to read WINTER?! I honestly don't know if I will be able to survive.

The pacing of this book was mesmerizing and thrilling at the same time. From page one we are bombarded with action packed pages that just make you fly throughout the book, but even though it is quite fast paced the vital information you need is easy to understand and not at all confusing. There are some twists and turns throughout the novel, but nothing major that will leave you either sobbing on the floor or giving up on the series, but if you are thinking of picking this up (which I want you too) I BEG you to wait until 2015. The pain and angst you will save yourself is worth it.

Now lets move on to the important part of the book...CHARACTERS!

Can I just start ranting about Kai and Cinder? yes? okay. I adored their reunion. From the beginning of the book, and even back in scarlet you could see that Kai started realizing that he did in fact have Feelings for Cinder and once he slowly does this I feel thy start escalating even more even though he still is weary of her Lunar powers, but when they finally meet again it is obvious that they are both head over heels for each other. *cough* the kiss was proves their love *cough*
My newest addition to my OTP list is Cress and Thorne. (like you didn't see that coming) The way Marissa made cress fangirl over Throne and create unrealistic ideal about him made her soooo relatable (Cress and I are one) and all of her ideals ended up helping Thorne become the imperfect hero she always knew he was. I really need Thorne to declare his love for Cress because it is blatantly obvious and its hurting my heart.

I will leave you will all of my confused feelings with the hopes that you will read this book. It is worth it.

THIS BOOK. No.

The post book depression is real. I cant deal with this.

I don't even think I need to write a review for this. The character interactions where perfect. The pacing was well done; though quite slow at the beginning but it suddenly picks up and suddenly you are at the end of the book. (whoops)

The character development between Day and June is so breathtakingly beautiful and so well paced and realistic it hurts. They both have feelings for each other even though they have both hurt each other in the past, and even though they don't know if they will ever be able to competently forgive one another they still try and make it work. It is so heartbreaking and encouraging at the same time I have no idea how to feel.

The shocking ending almost left me in TEARS. I couldn't handle it at first but at the very VERY end it redeemed itself, and I was somewhat okay with it. Even though it is still tragic. I don't mean I couldn't deal with it because it was bad, I mean I couldn't DEAL because all of my feels and ships where torn out from under me and almost destroyed, and I feared this would be another Allegiant, but thankfully it was not.

I just cant believe its over.

GUITAR NOTES BY

12951695

A sweet, slightly sad (bot not tear tsunami sad) tale about how friendship between the two most unlikely people blossoms thanks to music and rhythm.

The story is very well paced, funny where it needed to be, sad where it needed to be, irritating where it needed to be (if there is such a thing), and an overall light read which will leave you smiling and awing.
One thing I did miss from the book was suspense. I new it was a new approach having the two "note givers" know who they where since the beginning, but I really think that if they hadn't known who they where the story would have been even more exiting, and more of a hit.
My favorite aspect of the book was the  friendship. No romance, no kissing, no cheesy lines, no insta love, just good old fashioned friendship.

I really related to Lyla because on the outside she resembled the perfect poster teen for perfection and achievement, and not to mention protege cello player, but on the inside its a whole different story. She feels pressure by her friends and family to do thing her heart has no desire for, her teachers expect the universe from her, and she doesn't really know who she is or what she wants because her entire life has been lived pretending.

I could also relate to Tripp in the sense that he was  extremely passionate about his music, his guitar, and more importantly his loved ones. I realize that his loved ones might be hard to believe by the way that he sometimes refers to his mom (but who doesn't do that every once in a while?) but I am referring to the way he cares about his friend Lyla. You can clearly see that when the plot twist hits ( no spoilers) Tripp does everything he possibly can to help Lyla even though her friends and especially her dad tries to stop him.

Guitar notes is an adorable book that will leave you wishing you played the guitar and wondering about what makes you happy.

ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS By Stephanie Perkins

17453983

I thought this would be just another love story, and even though that is technically what this is it was so much more too.

For a long time I could not wrap my head around why people seemed to really love this novel because from the cover up to the title it just seemed like a totally cliche story, but after weeks of debating whether to reading it or not, I decided to jump right in and see what all the excitement was about.

Anna and the french kiss was a lighthearted, fun loving novel that was well paced, filled with adorable sexual tension (if there is such a thing), had the ability to make you burst out laughing, and leaving you feeling all giddy and bubbly inside wishing that your life was remotely like Anna's....which will probably never happen.

My favorite character in the novel was Anna because I found her to be very relatable which made me enjoy her "cliche" story even more. Anna is a quirky, shy, brunette, homebody, movie loving teenage girl that actually lives through believable situations, except the whole being sent to Paris for boarding school thing, but apart from that she always reacts like I would (most of the time). Another thing I really enjoyed about Anna was her FRIENDSHIP with St.Claire. (not that I didn't enjoy the love part of it but let me explain). Anna, while being attracted to St.Claire (who would not be) understood that he was in a relationship and did not act upon her feelings. She did flirt a bit, but it never went farther than that and that put the whole situation in a more believable scenario.

St.Claire was the British/american french speaking boy that every girl needs in her life. I am still waiting.

If you have not read this yet I don't know why you are still reading this...GO!

WINGER By Andrew Smith

11861815

Winger is a wonderfully written  coming of age novel about a teenage boy trying to find himself in the midst of a puberty surrounded by older boys and girls who constantly made fun of him.
Winger is both perversely hilarious and heartbreaking on so many levels you will crash like the Titanic. The story starts out with a fun and comedic mood as you get introduced to the characters and start getting acquainted with the story. The characters start developing as the story continues even though when you think they have all finally mature a little Winger and Joey start giving rides to strange screaming men in the middle of the night.

My heart goes out for Joey. I will say no more.

I also really enjoyed Annie and Wingers relationship because it was so genuine in the way that it developed. It was both awkward, adorable (at times), and a little perverted at times (which was to be expected from the mind of a teenage boy).

Winger made me laugh, question what goes on in boys heads (which I already sorta knew, but it still shocks you), cry to the point where I can no longer produce any tears. Winger is a book that make so you grow into a better person in a way. It makes you be more open minded and understanding about some things.
If you haven't given this book a chance pick it up now.

I feel like this review is too short, but I am still in post book shock, but i hope that my awkward short review will encourage you to pick it up.

THE IRON DAUGHTER By Julie Kagawa

7747064

I have mixed feelings about this book and I don't know where to start.

okay.

I really did like the plot for this book because it continues tight off of where the first book ended, plus it always has some twist and turns that will just spike your interest in the book, and will make you want to sit down and read as fast as you can so you can finish the book. I also really liked  how we got so see deepen into all of the characters different personalities which made me understand more why they do certain things, or why something ended like it did.

One thing that REALLY bugged me was Meghan ans Ash's relationship. or whatever the hell they have going on. I don't even know anymore. I just found it supper annoying and cliche that even though Ash basically ignored, tried to murder, insulted, degraded, and basically abused Meghan she still came back crying to him every single time! If she would ave had any self respect she would just have either slapped him (once or twice) or just ignored him and moved on, but instead of doing this she just convinces herself that she is the one with the problem and just crawls back to him using the excuse that "she cant leave without him" even though he didn't ONCE make any attempt to ask for forgiveness. I am sooo over relationships like this.
It also infuriated me how she treated Puck. Meghan led him on so many times I lost count. She would switch from crying about ash to fantasizing about Puck in point five seconds, and the worst part is that the poor guy is soo in love with her that he forgave and believed her every time!
I just really want her to choose once and for all which guy she wants to be with because all of this switching is making me dizzy.

Overall I really did enjoy the book. I think Meghan really needs to prove herself in the next book as a strong female lead, but at this point I don't know what to expect.

TEARDROP By Lauren Kate

16070143

Meh.

From the overly photo shopped cover this book, the cheesy characters, the predictable love triangle, and the confusing premise this book is a collection of random and incoherent thought that where easy to read fast, but hard to understand.

Something I didn't understand was the whole thing with Eureka not being able to cry. What? was I the only one to find this a little weird?? I didn't really get what happened if she did cry either. I thing it had something to do with her drowning the entire world, butt I don't see how that would be possible because she would have to cry for an awfully long time. I also didn't understand how this curse was set onto her. We didn't really get that much of an ending to the book of love, so we didn't learn about what happened to the woman whose heart was broken, bur maybe (hopefully) that will be explained in book two?

the characters where so predicable it became annoying. I can read about cliches and everything and even end up liking some, but these characters where cookie cutters. Brooks was the "childhood best friend" who had always had been in love with the main character, but she somehow was oblivious to the whole thing even though you could clearly tell since the first moment he was introduced. Eureka was the female lead who had something terrible happen to her and was having a mental/emotional breakdown which made her fell misunderstood and like the world owed her something, but magically (as always) the mysterious knight in shinning armor comes and rescues her (more like crashes into her), tells her about her secret powers while revealing that he is supposed to be her enemy while he declared his undying love for her. I'm not even go into the other characters because I fell these few examples give you an idea about the rest of them.

I just really need to find a good book to read.
Peace out.

GLOW BY Amy kathleen Ryan

Ugh. That pretty much all I have to say for this book.

I have looked up the reviews on goodreads and I am seeing that almost everyone is raving about this book, but somehow I just cant connect with their words or with this book in general. the story was dry, boring, and a somewhat copy of across the universe. I am aware that this came out before across the universe, but since I read the series before, my view on things was altered.

The premise of the book had allot of potential with the whole traveling through space, kidnapping girls, infertility, cults premise to it, but I just feel that the characters and the writing made it fall short. The writing I could not connect with at all. It was just too bland and "cookie cutter" I don't know if I make sense by saying this but that's what it felt like reading it. Like if it was not original. I don't know how to explain this but just go with it.

The characters where a major problem because there where just mostly annoying. i had a major problem with Waverly because I could feel the author trying to make her a "Katniss" type character, but was failing miserably because she just came off as pretentious and utterly annoying. I had the most problems with her at the end when she returns from the ship and basically falls into Kierans arms and then the next day she hates him and starts accusing him of being the enemy and comparing him to Anne just because he believes in god. She had no idea what the boys had been through in those five months that the girls where gone and what Kieran had to endure and sacrifice for the other boys, so she should not be judging him and accusing him of being an extremist. Don't even get me started on Seth. Ugh. Darkly brilliant? more like crazy psychopath! I just don't see what makes him the "love interest" Waverly is attracted to some really weird stuff and she doesn't even think of him on the ship! the entire time she is thinking about Kieran, but the second she returns to her home ship shes all like "where is Seth?" It doesn't make sense

I just really didn't like this book...sorry

FANGIRL By Rainbow Rowell

16068905

First off, best. name. ever. RAINBOWWWWW! I love it.

I am going to start off this review saying that Cath is by far the most relatable female character that I think I have ever read. She does not leave her room, she was dangerously obsessed with fictional characters, she was shy, she was awkward, and a good time for her meant reading fan fiction. Basically Rainbow Rowell was picturing me when she created Cath. Awkward and antisocial. I just wish the ending to my story is a s good as Cath's.

My favorite character in this novel (by far) is Levi.  Because of two simple things, that are probably cliche, but as we book reviewers like to say is- he was brilliantly flawed. He was so gullible, adorable, happy. stupid, sweet (the list goes on) college boy, and every time Rainbow made him smile I just wanted to tackle him into a giant bear hug because his fictional smiles where heaven.

The rest of the character in this book where also so relatable, real, and believably flawed in so many ways that I had a love/hate relationship because like I said they where real, so they where not perfect, and that in turn made them perfect.

The story line was light and funny which made it a very quick and easy read, but there where also those moments of heartbreak and pure frustration, but everything gets worked out in the end which makes all of the stress worth while.

This is a book for all ages and all emotions because it a feel good book, so run to your library and fangirl about fangirl with me!!

FAKING NORMAL By Courtney C. Stevens

15726915

This book made me feel all warm and fuzzy even though the subject matter was far from warm and fuzzy, but I couldn't help the feeling.

This book is just so powerful in many ways. It treats allot o f very difficult and serious topics so  and it portrays them to the point I believe what is going on to the point where I was scared for the characters and what would happen next.
The way Courtney describes these wonderful characters, and how she makes them react to the situations that they are forced to be in makes them so real and genuine as if they jumped out of the page from time to time which could be both a good thing and a bad thing at times.

Probably my favorite thing about the book was the characters flaws. I know this sounds weird, but I was very interested when I started noticing that nobody in this entire book had a easy life, or how each of them dealt with their issues "their coping skills" especially with Alexi and Bodee

My only issues with this book would have to be the harmless but ever so present slut shaming that goes through out the book. I guess that all of us girl sometimes have thoughts about other people that we shouldn't have, but the three friends in this book where constantly making comments about other girls in their school and even to themselves. It didn't ruin the book for me, but its was something that put me off.

Faking normal is one of those coming o age books that will make you laugh, cry, and literally die with the amount of suspense and mystery surrounding the whole "incident" which will keep you reading until the very en, so that you find out who the real bad guy is.

I wish every girl that goes through something like this finds their own Bodee Lennox.

THRONE OF GLASS By Sarah J. Maas

7896527

I liked this way more than I thought I would, and I am glad.

Our story starts off by introducing a very bad ass female assassin named Calaena who is very full of herself, but not in a way that will make you dislike her. In fact, it made me like her even more! I did get to question all of her bragging because she doesn't really "fight" with anyone until the middle of the book, but rest assured that all that she says is not lies. As we get to read more about Calaena, and know more about her back story we immediately see that there is more to her than just her looks and her skills for assassination. Behind all of the walls that she has built to protect herself lies a witty, charismatic, caring girl who just has a hard time showing all of these amazing characteristic about her because she is too busy battling her own inner demons.
She is so easy and fun to read about that I just liked her instantly.

The supposedly "love" interests in this book are (DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU DO NOT LIKE SPOILERS) the crown prince Dorian and the head of the guard Chaol. I personally rutted more for Chaol, but Dorian was the one getting the entire attention of Calaena throughout the entire book. It was like she was oblivious to the fact that Chaol liked her too. the reason I said "love interests" was because even though this book has some lovey-dovey aspects to it, it is in no way shape or from a romance novel. The novel focused more on the mystery, that I will not reveal, and the action filled pages that made me read at a incredible lightning speed.

There where some unanswered question in this book, but I assume we will find the answers lying in the second book, so I am really looking forward to learning more about the back story to the novel and getting to know more about Calaena's and Dorian's past lovers which are mentioned quite allot in the book.

THE CHOSEN By Celie Thompson

229496

I will admit that the start of this book, maybe well into the middle, was a little bit slow and dull, but the ending was very unexpected and pleasing which I really enjoyed. Which contributed largely to me deciding that this is my favorite out of the two apart from the insane amount of character development.

The conclusion of the story is much as anyone could have predicted.  Chloe had more boy troubles, ends up with Bryan, unexpected relationships form (which I would have liked to see more of), Chloe has more assassins try to kill her, but all in all she ends up saving the pride and creating temporary peace between the Mai and The Order, but the reason that this was my favorite part out of the three was the way Celia made all of these things come together and be resolved. Even if it was somewhat cheesy.

I really liked the relationships in this book because apart from ones becoming "permanent or definite" new, unexpected ones form as well which was quite fun. I really liked Amy and Alyec's relationship because Celia gave little hints about it forming, since Amy and Paul's relationship was crumbling, but you didn't think much about it at first since Chloe and Alyec where still a thing plus the whole Mai cant be with humans thing, but after Chloe proves that the "curse" was lifted, when she saved two humans, by kissing Brian, the sudden possibility of a Amy/Alyec relationship popped into my head and wouldn't disappear. I kinda screamed when they finally kissed because it was so sudden, and it was also after Chloe revealed that she had spent the night with Bryan which led e to believe Alyec would do something like start a fight or something, but the fact that he kissed Amy instead was pleasing. I don't think hr did it because he wanted to get back at Chloe. I simply think he kissed Amy because he had always liked her, bu had always thought that he could not be with her.

I really liked to see Chloe develop throughout the book, like I said the beginning was quite slow, but literally in the last chapter we can clearly see the true extent of Chloe's development. She is kind, compassionate, is willing to make peace (even if it means her death), and she also becomes wiser with her decisions. Which is a miracle because she used to be pretty reckless.

This book was an okay conclusion to the series. Even though it kinda leaves you hanging and turning the pages to see if there is either a next chapter, or a release date for a next book.

THE STOLEN By Celia Thomson

208493

The story immediately picks up where it left off in the first book " THE FALLEN " and picks up the pace as Chloe struggles to adapt to Brian's betrayal, being a feline, her friends, and the San Francisco pride. In this book we get to know more about the history of the Mai and The Order which provides valuable insight and answer some of the questions that cam up in the first book.

Chloe develops allot in this book because of the situations she finds herself in. She is forced to live with stranger (of her own king) for her own "protection" and has to learn the hard way who to trust, to communicate with her loved ones and worry about protecting them, battle over her feelings for both Brian and Alyec all while trying to learn how to use her "powers". Chloe is also a very relatable character because of her wittiness/sassy attitude, her insane amounts of loyalty and protectiveness toward her loved ones, discovering new astonishing secrets about her destiny and past, her desire to have a "normal" life, and her mood swings (which I can totally relate to). Chloe overall is just a bad ass character.

As for all of the "relationships" in this book (I put " because there are so many fake ones and soon to be ones that its hard to count them all) they either take their time developing *cough* Alyec and Chloe *cough* or stay the same like Amy and Paul or are simply awkward and complicated like Chloe and Brian. I really don't understand Chloe and Brian's relationship because on top of the fact that they are on opposing teams and have feelings for each other it is literally physically impossible and deadly for them to be together, but they still cant seem to stay away from each other for long. Is this true love? I don't know, but I will read the third book to see what happens.

I will say that the book are soooo not what I expected from watching the TV series. There are unique and different in almost every aspect which I am liking so far. If you where a fan of the show and want to know the REAL story of Chloe King I highly suggest picking these up, but with and open mind.

THE FALLEN By Celia Thomson

1112383

After falling in love with ABC Family's television series about "The nine lives of Chloe King" and having my heart broken by it being cancelled I was a little skeptical about picking up the series because I just didn't want to be disappointed, but needing some closure to the season one finale I decided to pick the series up and find out what happened once and for all.

I am glad I did.

I started this book cautiously expecting it to be a little dull and slow, but was surprised that in only two sittings that all in all consisted in almost only four hours I had managed to read, love, and enjoy the book in a way that I hadn't expected when I had first picked it up. Now, keep in mind this is a light hearted read. This is not a book with some alternate meaning, some philosophical point of view, or a very complex plot with super dynamic characters that will have you read pages twice so you can understand what happened. This is simply a book about a girl that dies, comes back to life with cat-like-powers, struggles to figure out which of two guys a she likes more, and deals with her two best friends dating. Its a fun, page turner book that will have you  laughing out loud, and getting exited over the action throughout the book.

the characters in the book where easy to read and easy to understand, but my favorite out of all of the had to be Chloe. Celia made and excellent job about making her half feline without making her corny which was pleasing. I also really related to her because she acted like a normal teenager. She had her rebellious outbreaks, her nervous breakdowns, and her moments of blind courage that made her "real" and apart from her feline like powers I saw allot of myself in her.

I am really exited to see where the story will go because the differences from the TV show where shocking. This was of course to be expected, but it still took me a few moments to process a few of them, in a good way because I just feel it made everything more interesting.

PICK IT UP NOW:THE FALLEN

CONFESIONS OF A MURDER SUSPECT By James Patterson

13521399

I have always enjoyed James Patterson's writing. I have always found it to be light, to the point, witty, and easy to follow, but I feel that in confessions of a murder suspect he tried switching it up a bit which really didn't work out (in my opinion). Maybe it was because he collaborated with Maxine Paetro? or maybe he wanted to try something new? I don't know which it was, but something in the writing style made it harder to read...I don't know, it just felt slower.

One thing that I really enjoyed about this book was the fact that Tandy, the main character, seemed to have a special connection to us, the read, in a way where it almost seemed as the book was an entire conversation that went back and forth between to people which made the book feel somewhat "personal".
Even though Tandy's way of explaining things, and telling her story may be confusing and downright frustrating at times it made you pay closer attention to every little thing she said because you didn't know if that particular word would reveal a clue later on in the story or contribute to a information gap/questions from previous chapters.

The Mystery and suspense in the book where really palpable and easy to follow and enjoy throughout the book. With the murder of Mr. and Mrs. Angel and some other interesting and creepy incident that appear shortly after out young wannabe Nancy Drew has allot on her plate because of her constant need to discover the truth about everything.

The characters in this book where really complex to read about. Their faults where easy to read and understand while still being complex. These characters, and I mean every single one of them, had things to hide, secrets to reveal, and complex emotions that made reading about them, and the mysteries surrounding them more interesting.

There are still a few gaps in my mind about what happened in the end of the book, but since this is only the first installment in the series I hope that future books will be able to explain and clear up any of the foggy detail this one left behind.

Overall this was a quick, enjoyable read. Maybe not up to my expectations of James Patterson, but it was still enjoyable for the most part.

EMERALD GREEN By Kerstin Gier

14759651

I have no words for this book. I am still in post-series shock.

The plot brought everything together nicely, it explained all of the gaps and questions I had from the last book, and it gave me some closure for what happens to the characters even though I am still a little bit fuzzy about what happened to some of them.

The beginning, I will admit, was quite slow because it primarily consisted of Gwen discovering new things and secrets, and dealing with Gideon which I understand was necessary to build up to the climax, but I still couldn't help but yawn once or twice.
The multiple plot twits throughout the book where very unexpected (at least for me) and after you got over the shock of discovering something you would realize that with the new piece of information you would gain another puzzle piece that was missing from the beginning, or sometimes you would scream at the book for several minutes calling yourself names because you realized that what had happened was very obvious, but you had not noticed it.

The romance in this book was okay. I mean, for most of the book Gwen and Gideon bicker and fight about whether who hates the other the most and to see who is most infuriated about them becoming "friends". I will say that I did enjoy all of the Gwen/Gideon kissy kissy scenes though because apart from being a big "FINALLY!" they where also kinds funny (read to find out). The only thing that bothered me about the whole ordeal was that Gwen forgave Gideon in an instant even when she vowed never to have anything to do with him ever again. Not that I didn't want them to be apart, but Gwen's sudden forgiveness caught me off guard because I was expecting her to slap him instead of to run into his arms.I was sorta disappointed that we didn't see much of Lesley/Raphael action, but you cant have everything you want in life. right?

EMERALD GREEN is an exiting and satisfying conclusion to the Ruby red trilogy that will keep you flipping pages like a maniac and laughing out loud from time to time.

THE IRON KING By Julie Kagawa

6644117

I had been recommended this book for so loooong, but now that I have read it I wish I would have listened to my friends sooner!!

This not having been the first book of Julie's I have read I was pleasantly surprised when her very easy to read writing style was in the entire book, making it an easy, quick, and pleasant read that will make you crave the sequel the second you read the last page.

THE IRON KING was one of those books that combine romance, action, and adventure in such an easy and carefree way, so that you don't get overwhelmed over any of the three genres above. Its the perfect blend of the three. I really loved the quest that Meghan had to embark on  because it was a non stop action packed road trip through all of the Fey realm where we got to encounter scary creatures, and far too many near-death situations. Another thing that I loved about THE IRON KING was the way Julie described everything in the world because it was in a sort of "care free" way that made everything seem, in a way, more real.

The romance was very well built up as well because it was, like I said before, not too overwhelming not nonexistent. Though while reading the book the feelings of both guys where kinda obvious (in a way) but in Meghan's mind there was really only one contender even though there was obvious feelings for both guys, but it was still fun to see them fight over her, and have jealousy fits.

All of the characters in this book where also very interesting and so dynamic that none of them stood out for too much at a time, well maybe just enough to get to know them, understand them, and either hate them, be intrigued, or fall head over heels for them.

I am really intrigued to find out what happens to all of these characters, and the entire fey world!

Addicting!

TORN By Amanda Hocking

11966216

I really don't understand what I expected out of this sequel, but it certainly wasn't anything special though it wasn't total disaster either.

We saw alot of more plot development and building throughout this book which was good because we seriously needed some background on the Vittra and why they where so desperate to kidnap Wendy at any cost. Even though we still are on a need-to-know-basis about this kind of information we where still able to fill in some of the gaps that we had from the previous book.

One thing that did NOT develop at all was Finn and Wendy's relationship. From page one the only thing that they seem to do is  either ignore each other, scream at each other, or kiss because they where too "emotionally confused". In the synopsis of the book Amanda also hinted Wendy might develop another love interest which would be a make it or break it move because love triangles are very cliche, and very tricky to write in the correct way so that the reader isn't either bored or too overwhelmed by the "new girl" or "new guy" but I think that Amanda was able to write this "triangle" quite decently because I was (am) rather intrigued by Loki, which I think is a good thing considering that he will be one of the main reasons that I may pick up the third book. The whole issue with the arranged marriage didn't bother me or surprised me that much because I was it coming since book one because Tove being engaged to Wendy was the only logical reason I could come up with him spending so much time at the palace. One thing that did surprise me though was Tove's real intentions (not gonna say cuz SPOILERS).

I am intrigued to see how this series will come to an end  because I still have a few questions with the main conflict and the story, but I guess we shall see in the third book.

THE BURNING SKY By Sherry Thomas

17332556

While the idea of the book wasn't one that we hadn't seen before "The burning sky" still showed signs of being a fantastic read, but just fell into the "okay-ish" category. The third person narrative in which the story is told makes it seem like an old, slow paced novel which does not help with the whole "exiting read" idea that I had in my mind.  The points of view frustrated me sometimes because they would just switch back and forth without any real warning, and that made the book seem choppy and poorly edited.

I find that alot of authors these days seem to leave out important details of the setting and villains that could be vital in a readers understanding and enjoyment of the book, but somehow they just expect us to hate a villain just because the "hero" tells us to do so. One example of this was Atlantis and The Bane. Throughout the book Sherry tells us that these two are evil evil things, and must be brought down because of all the evil things they have done and all of what they represent, and the entire time I am reading this I just want to scream at the book "WHAT EVIL THINGS?!" I really needed an explanation to why the Bane was a monster (not that he wasn't) and why Atlantis was such a terrible place to be ( a little bit of background on this would have been amazing) and why the heroes of the story where willing to give up so much in order to bring them down. (clarifying that Atlantis is a place and not an actual human being)

The characters in this book where indeed wonderful, but sometimes the confusion with the point of view and the setting was too much and maybe took away from the characters :awesomeness. Iolanthe was everything a female lead is supposed to be. Her boldness and determination where at high levels, but she still didn't seem cocky, and at the same time I could also tell she really liked Titus, but at the same time she didn't sound like a love sick puppy which made her wonderful to read about.
I was quite confused with what ended up happening to the Inquisitor, and also wished that her powers and wickedness would have been described more because that would have made her a much stronger and terrifying character like I (think) she was supposed to be.

All in all, I think "The burning sky" is a imaginative novel with wonderful characters, but is only advised (in my opinion) to those with patience to read and finish a book, and to those who do not expect much of it.

MORE THAN THIS By Patrick Ness

17262303

This book is both confusing and brilliant in a way that is indescribable, and this is exactly what I expected from Patrick Ness. After finishing his "Knife of never letting go" trilogy I went into a very serious book depression which I have not fully recovered from even though I read the series in 2013, so I was a bit skeptical to read another one of his books because of the fear of being mentally scarred (in a good way) again, and for all of the high expectations and contradicting reviews surrounding his books.More than this proves my fears wrong because this didn't mentally scar me as much (it kinda just left me staring at the wall for 30 minutes wondering "what the hell did I just read? ") and because all of the high expectations proved to be right.

The story line is just so unique and unexpected, and even beautifully poetic in a way which just made it so enjoyable to read even though sometimes I had little to no knowledge of what was going on.What I mean when I say that I "did not know what was going on" is because Patrick only reveals things bout the plot and the characters little by little, so that when you think you have all the right pieces together you have to re evaluate because suddenly everything has changed, and you see the events in a different light because of the tinny bits of information that he provided.

I loved how the character where all very diverse and constantly changing because they had to face the consequences of their actions because at one point or another (some more than others) screwed up and ended up affecting everyone else, so everyone had their own ways to cope. They where so real and so human sometimes that I just could not help getting emotionally invested in some of them (this usually happens for me) and cried when they cried or laughed at their victories and cursed everyone that made them sad. I wont go into much detail about every single character because I believe that the less you know about the premise of this book and who takes a role in it the more you are going to enjoy it and appreciate it for the deep message that it leaves behind.

This book will have you questioning life since page one, and will probably (most definitely) you brain dead for a few minutes after you read it.

SCARLET By A. C. Gaughen

11983940

I am pleased to say that I actually very much enjoyed this novel despite the loads of mixed reviews that I have seen floating around on the Internet. Though I can see where all of the negative reviews are coming from, all of the problems they complained about in this book didn't upset me that much (this may be because I love Robin Hood's story and am a sucker for anything related to it).

I will admit that sometimes the plot / pace of the story seemed a little bit off, but once you started thinking that it would either pick up the pace again or slow down enough for you to get a sense of what was going on. One thing that quite surprised me in this book was the plot twist because I really didn't expect it and once the "thing" was revealed I had to back and read it again just to make sure I was wrong. As for the rest of the book the intense action was never boring and always kept me on guard to see what would happen next, and I even found myself being sorta surprised by the villains in this book because sometimes their actions where surprising too. I say villains referring to Gisbourne and the Sheriff, though the Sheriff didn't play that big of the role throughout the novel as I expected him to.

For me the love triangle was really pointless because I really felt that Robin cared more for Scarlet than Little John. LJ struck me as a really immature boy who just liked fooling around with all of the girls, once he got what he wanted from Scarlet he would have probably just moved on to the next chase. I did get mad at Robin for pushing Scar away; though both of them need to learn how to express their feelings better.

Overall I really enjoyed this read and cant wait to read the next installment!!

THE ORIGINALS By Cat Patrick

15790886

Wow. When I picked this up at the library the cover and everything told me it would be a good read, but considering the last two books that I had read I didn't get my hopes up,but ended taking it home anyway...THANK LORD BABY JESUS I DID.

The entire premise of the book was just phenomenal because of how the author took the "clone" theme and turned it into one person so to say. The pace and plot of the book were equally amazing because there was never a dull nor un-cute moment, and the pace at which Cat fed us the information was both overwhelming and revealing, but also conserved so that we didn't die of shock!!

As for the characters I loved how the three twins where exactly the same on the outside, but once you got to know them a little you saw how different they really where. I could one minute relate to Ella, and the next relate to Lizzy, and so on. As for the Romance I just couldn't get enough of it.I really felt that Sean and Lizzy where just so adorable together and the way that the author made them first start liking each other and then slowly start falling for each other was done in a way that wasn't to fast (like insta love) nor too slow, but just so right that it made it... believable. Another thing I loved about the "romances" in this book was the whole thing about the three girls only being able to date one guy and two of them having crushed on different ones, and even though this may have been one of my favorite parts of the book I loved how the author didn't make it all about the love, but about the "clones" discovering themselves, who they really where as people, and the truth about their life, and family.

This book made me laugh ate all of the adorable moments, bite my nails as the danger began, and over all it made me feel exited and that was the best of all. I am very happily looking forward to reading more Cat Patrick books!!

SWITCHED By Amanda Hocking

11457525

I find myself saying this allot, but I find its a statement that fits most of the books that I have read recently. "so much promise, but it fell on its face" That my friends is switched by Amanda Hocking.

While the cover is intriguing, and the characters are not that terrible I feel that the whole plot and execution of the book could have been so much more, but it wasn't. I was really exited when they mentioned Trolls because I feel that this is one of the least explored subjects in literature, so all of the possibilities of greatness popped up in my head. I started thinking of all the ways she could portray them, their customs, their quirks, but their where simply reduced to a few lines that detailed how they where picky eaters, didn't like to wear shoes, and had problematic hair. (though that last one was relatable it really didn't give me any insight about trolls)

The characters in the novel where okay ish, like they where somewhat relatable and intriguing, but they just where (for the lack of a better word)...average. Not that being average is a bad thing, but I was expecting to be wowed. The romance in theirs book is, now that I look back on it insta-love. but it was one of the more mild cases of it. I did surprisingly felt myself shipping Wendy and Finn...even though if Finn as much as looks away from her Wendy thinks its the end of the world.

Meh. There is not much else to say about this because we haven't really started seeing the main conflict yet, and nothing jaw dropping happens...but I still may pick up the seconds installment for more peter pan references.

THE BONE SEASON By Samantha Shannon

17199504

Confusing. That is the word that I could use to sum up the entire premise of this book and review. Confusing.

Apart from being VERY confusing, oddly enough because there was so much information it was annoying, it was also, now that I think of it, dull. The entire premise of the book is deceiving which in turn makes it sound unique and intriguing, but after reading it it feels like I have read the story a 100 time, but with slightly different scenarios, names, and vocabulary, but in the end its the same old predictable structure that makes me cringe sometimes.  I think the biggest reason I didn't enjoy this book as much was because of all of the hype it got. People started creating very high (and false) expectations, and like the book crazy girl that I am, I believed most of them, so when I read the book it fell flat on its clairvoyant face.

The beginning of the book may have been the hardest for me because we were just hit with all this info about the government system voyants and all of these other things like we were expected to know it. This starts to fade away a few chapters into the book, but a feeling of lack of knowledge, incomprehension, and uneasiness followed me throughout the rest of the book. This might sound contradictory, but another reason the book was not that great was because of all of the excess of information. My reason  to say this is because ( I think) the author started to realize that we needed some background info at certain points and just stopped writing the scene and jumped immediately into a flashback, or an explanation. The problem with this was that it made the writing sorta choppy at times and incoherent. Plus the "background info" didn't always answer the questions I had, or did in a way, but not completely.

As for the characters in this book there really isn't much to say about them because they were neither fabulous nor terrible they where just something out of a textbook. Just plain old meh, just like the romance.

I literally have nothing else to say about this book.
