PRODIGY By Marie Lu

Prodigy (Legend, #2)

I am having post-reading depression right now. The ending was just-
no.

in this sequel to LEGEND we get A LOT more than we bargained for. We finally discover the secrets behind how the republic came to be, we travel into the colonies, and take a look into the patriots.
The two POV's (point of view) in this book are completely in sinc and completely necessary. The voices of June and Day are so seamlessly intertwined that you understand their very different personalities without getting confused on with POV you are reading.

We also see a lot of character development no just in the different relationships in the series, but in the individuals too. I was VERY interested in the development in Day and Junes relationship because they have to figure out their feelings for each other whilst fighting their inner demons, deciding who to trust, face betrayal, and deal with having another person wanting to be with them.

I am not even going to discuss the ending because I still cant deal with it.
sorry not sorry.

SPUD By John van de Ruit

Spud (Spud, #1)

Written from in the perspective of the diary of a fourteen year old boy (Spud Milton) we get to see his struggles of becoming a "man", first (and second) loves, friendship, and the subject of death all whilst reading The Lord of the Rings.

Apart from learning of the life of Spud we also get to learn about the times in south Africa in the 1990's (where the book is set) witch was pretty interesting.
I admit that in the middle it gets kinda boring to read, but it picks up its pace shortly after you start feeling bored.

This book is also hilarious ( I had to set it aside sometimes because of how much I was laughing).  I cant tell you how happy I am to know that this book has a sequel, AND a movie!!

If you are a teenage guy you should definitely go check this out!

THE UNUSUAL SUSPECTS By Michael Buckley

The Unusual Suspects (The Sisters Grimm, #2)

This book is sooo punk rock! (read and you will understand)

Witty, funny and easy to read the second installment in the Sisters Grimm series is adorable. With everything from frog girls to murderous bunnies this book really delivers.

The characters seemed to develop allot in this book, and we also got to see different sides of the witch made me really happy. One of the characters that really drew me in was Sabrina. With her hatred to the fairy-tale folk increasing after failed attempts to rescue her parents Sabrina just feels lost and sacred (even if she wont admit it) and takes out her anger on everyone around her. I think people can really relate to this behavior of releasing stress in the not so peaceful ways. Plus the hatred for something you really don't understand. I just want to see if Sabrina can grow out of this phase and develop into a More mature and wise character.
Plus I just want to keep reading about the whole Puck/Sabrina thing that is going one.

Don't judge me.

NERVE By Jeanne Ryan

Nerve

meh. That's all I really have to say. Whilst promising high tension and jaw dropping action NERVE delivers, in my opinion, none of that.

The reason I picked this book up was because the concept was interesting and thrilling, not very unique, but I was OK with giving it a chance. Witch it blew.

The cast for this novel includes very ordinary 17 year olds and a VERY ordinary main girl who goes by Vee (her real name just made me roll on the floor and laugh).
The romance in this book was also very dumb. (I just cant find another way to describe it) Only after a few hours of meeting each other Ian and Vee become a "couple" or something. I don't even know. Anyone who becomes that close to a person in just a few hours needs to check themselves. People don't work that way. It didn't even work that way in Twilight, and that is saying ALLOT.

Can I just comment on how much the cover confuses me? I don't get what it has to do with the book.

CINDER By Marissa Meyer

Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)

OMG.
I NEED book 2 right now.
like, now.

Being a retelling of Cinderella, at first I was a little skeptical if I would like this book at all. Cinder being a cyborg and all.

One of the things that I LOVED about this book was the setting. Instead of the typical American scenery this book is set in Asia.
I also quite liked the introduction of aliens and the whole "Lunar" concept. Even though it may seem kind of difficult to understand who the Lunars are, where they come from, why they act like they do, and the whole magic concept, it all becomes clearer if you keep reading on.

The author captured quite well the whole essence of the evil stepsisters (or stepsister in this case) and the even EVILER (is that a word?) stepmother, whom witch I would have been happy to slap.
Cinder (aka Cinderella) was very humble, kind, and had all of the characteristics of being a true princess (hint hint wink wink if ya know what I mean).

May I also applaud this book for not being too focused on the romance?
I think that may be what I liked  most about this re-telling.

Even though some part of the plot where very predictable it was easily overlooked by the action, mystery, and ending.
Cinder is a book that will make you crave for more.

ONCE IN A FULL MOON By Ellen Scheiber

Once in a Full Moon (Full Moon, #1)

This book may not be the best YA novel I have ever read, or best werewolf YA that I have read for that matter, but in fact it wasn't that bad if you read it not expecting too much.

Some of the reasons that this is not the best book ever is because most of the lines made me cringe.
lines like, "I was a loved struck girl and yet I couldn't control my ridiculous feelings." Witch main character EVER would describe themselves as a love sick person? would YOU eve ever do that?

cringe.

The plot was pretty normal and predictable too. I mean, we have the typical, Girl who isn't that popular gets with the main jock. They have problems in their relationship because he wasn't all he was cut out to be. Suddenly a mysterious loner/bad boy enters the school, and makes the girl feel different. You can probably fill in the lines to what happens next.

I had problems with almost all of the characters. Nash was too inconsiderate, full of himself, and inconsiderate. Celeste's best friends where mean girls, unthoughtful, and I just couldn't rap my head around why Celeste worshiped them. And Celeste was just and annoying lovesick puppy (witch got VERY ANNOYING).

This is a book to read when you are looking for something to cruise right through, and not expect wonders out of it.
